On April 26, 2024, ninety volunteers representing thirteen iGaming companies conducted an environmental cleanup at Ghadira Bay in Malta. The initiative, organized for Earth Day, resulted in the removal of 700 kilograms of debris from the beach and adjacent nature reserves.
Survey and Cleanup Operations
The event was originally scheduled for April 19 but was delayed due to strong winds. Operations began at 15:00 with a base camp established near the Sundancer Kiosk. Volunteers first completed a litter density investigation covering a 100-meter by 20-meter beach section. Under the supervision of Nature Trust Malta, collected items were sorted and cataloged for entry into European Union beach pollution research databases.Partners and Reserve Maintenance
Following the survey, teams proceeded with a standard beach sweep and cleared vegetation along the Ghadira and Foresta 2000 reserve boundaries. Participants collected plastic, glass, wood, and metal waste from roadside foliage, with some workers entering the reserve under Malta Ranger Unit supervision to avoid disturbing nesting birds. Thirteen iGaming firms participated, including Aspire Global, Bet365, Betsson, Betway, Bragg, Casumo, EveryMatrix, Games Global, Glitnor, Kindred, UniBet, 888/William Hill, and 1GameChanger Studio, which also provided official event photography and video documentation.Source: iGaming industry organizing committee.
